The Ramseur Food Pantry shows the love of God to those in the Eastern Randolph community by attempting to meet their physical needs for food and basic hygiene necessities.
To God’s glory, in tough economic times, people have continued to give to this ministry so that the shelves have not been completely bare. We give all the glory to God for anybody that has been helped or received a blessing as a result of this ministry.
Ramseur Food Pantry's success depends on a lot of people working together as a team.
No one person or even one church alone, can adequately do this ministry.
We currently have nine Eastern Randolph area churches including First Christian Church, which on a weekly rotating basis, distributes food and does the paper work. In addition to these churches, there are another couple of churches that contribute food. Each church has a representative that is responsible for scheduling workers for his church and for attending bi-monthly meetings. The Town of Ramseur generously leases us the space for food pantry for $1.00 per year. There is a marked entry for the food pantry if you enter from the back of the Ramseur Town Hall which faces the Methodist church. We serve families who live in or have children which attend Eastern Randolph H.S., or any of the feeder schools for Eastern Randolph.
Families end up at Food Pantry for a wide variety of reasons. Sometime it is just as simple as the economy. They may have lost their job and need some help with groceries until they get their next job. In other cases, they have become disabled and are waiting on their disability check, or maybe it is not enough to cover their needs. Sometimes people’s lives and their ability to make a living are destroyed, or severely limited as a result of drug or alcohol addiction.
We want to be more than a food distribution center. When a new family comes in for food, we ask them to bring back any financial information and encourage them to apply for food stamps. When the situation fits, we encourage the family to apply for unemployment or disability. At some point during the process, we find out if they are attending church anywhere. If not, we invite them to attend our church. As the Spirit leads, at some point we may ask if we can pray with them.
It is truly a blessing to be involved with the food pantry.
In KJV: Proverbs 21:13
Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
We ask for your prayers for this ministry that God would continue to provide. We also ask that you would pray about whether or not you personally should get involved.
